Can Guinea Pigs Eat Raisins?

Mmmm, raisins.  A lovely treat for us, and one that many parents put as a sweet treat in their kids lunchboxes.  But what about our piggies?  Well, the most important thing to note is that raisins are particularly high in sugar.  If you fed your guinea pig too much raisins it can give the piggy digestive issues in the short run, and cause weight gain and other more serious health issues in the long run.  So the short answer to the question is, yes, guinea pigs are capable of eating raisins, but if you do feed them any, make sure it is just one or two, and more than a few raisins per week really isn’t necessary.  And remember fresh hay, fresh water, and vitamin c fortified pellets are most important things you can provide your guinea pig on a daily basis.

Thanks so much for stopping by and we hope to see you around again real soon.

Until next time, love those piggies!
