Can Guinea Pigs Eat Strawberries?

Guinea pigs can eat strawberries.  In fact, last time we checked we were pretty sure that not only could they eat strawberries but in fact….

GUINEA PIGS ABSOLUTELY LOVE STRAWBERRIES!

HOWEVER….Guinea Pigs have this one little problem…as you can see the video below about can guinea pigs eat strawberries:

You see, most guinea pigs do love the sugary stuff like strawberries and other fruits so much so that they can’t seem to get enough when an owner decides to give them some.  But they also have very delicate digestive systems, and if they have too much  they can have some pretty serious problems.
So, if you do decide to feed your guinea pig strawberries, the main thing to remember is to feed them in moderation.   That means a thin slice or two will do, and it really doesn’t need to be every day.   This is not always easy, you’ve got to be highly disciplined when feeding fruits to your piggies, as they are always going to want more of that sugary stuff even though it might not be good for them to have more.

And just in case you haven’t heard, guinea pigs are THE most persuasive animals on the planet…..so just make sure you are  mentally prepared before you feed any fruit.  Although its funny its also serious, YOU MUST STAY STRONG!  Do not let them  convince you to give them more than the small serving that you planned.  And if you can’t handle it…its probably best to stay away from the sugary stuff all together.  Wheeeek Wheeeeek!

Remember, the most important thing you can do for a guinea pig is to make sure high quality timothy hay and fresh water are available at all times, as well as making sure you have vitamin c fortified pellets on hand.

We hope this helps, but we also remind you if you ever have any serious questions about the health of your guinea pig it is always best to consult with your veterinarian.

Thank you for stopping by, and we hope we’ll see you around again real soon.

Till next time…love those piggies!
