Can rabbits eat dog food?

When you’ve got multiple pets running around the house, it can be difficult to keep track of what they can or can’t eat.  If you’ve got both a rabbit and a dog, you might be wondering, can rabbits eat dog food?

The answer is No, you should never feed your rabbit any dog food.  Dogs and rabbits have completely different digestive systems, and while it is ok for dogs to eat high protein diets with meat etc., rabbits are not at all suitable for this kind of diet.

Instead of dog food, you should be feeding your rabbit high quality and fresh timothy hay, quality rabbit pellets, and fresh and clean water on a daily basis.  Fresh vegetables fed in moderation and the occasional fruit as a  treat are ok, but you should never be feeding any dog or cat food as this could cause illness for your rabbit.

We hope this was helpful.  Thanks for stopping by, and we welcome you back any time.

Till next time, love those rabbits…
