Belinda Says Hay: “Love Languages”

Hello. It's Belinda.

I’m writing this upstairs in the living room.

In fact I've been "hanging out" in the living room all week. So I can watch the front door.

There may be a surprise delivery coming for Valentine's Day. You never know.

Josh from the warehouse usually sends me some holiday goodies. I would be happy with anything from the Valentine's Day specials. 

Vine hearts. Strawberry Rose Snackers. Some Valentine's Herbal Medley.

Or even a bunny or guinea pig ring for my roommate. She deserves a little "bling" now and then. Not that she ever leaves the house. 

Anyway, one nice thing about working in the living room is the bookcase. Sometimes I like to "chew on" a good book. 

I pulled one off the shelf the other day and it tasted terrible. But it had an interesting message.

The book is called "The Five Love Languages." It's all about the ways people can be extra nice to each other. Not just bonded pairs but family members and roommates too. 

According to the book, the five love languages are:

• receiving gifts, such as special snacks from the warehouse
• quality time, which is when my roommate gives me an hour or two to sample these books in peace
• words of affirmation, like telling someone you like their blog
• physical touch, except when it involves the grooming mitt
• acts of service, such as not talking to me while I'm working

It really gives you a lot to think about.

I'm not supposed to be reading Valentine's Day books. I'm supposed to be working on hay reports.

But every time I hear a car outside I think it's the delivery truck. Then I'm distracted for 15 minutes. I keep listening for a box hitting the porch.

Maybe that's the most  important part of a "love language."
