Chapter 111 - Angel Wings
Senior angel Abigail greeted some of the rabbit angels who had joined her fluffle, “Good morning, Mitsy and TJ! Hi Kai. How are you today, Jack?” Just then, Duffy came running up, all excited. “Abigail!” he exclaimed, “I did it! I wished really hard that Lola’s parents would see the light and give her up for a better home, and they did! My mommy and daddy were already looking for another bun, so I made sure they found Lola! They adopted her!” Just then, they heard a bell ring. As they say in the movie It’s A Bunderful Life, “Everytime a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.” Abigail said, “Congratulations, Duffy! You just earned your angel wings for helping a bun in need!” Duffy felt something funny and suddenly, he had wings just like Abigail!
“Let’s go see how Hobo is doing,” suggested Abigail. The Duffy tried out his new wings and flew over to Hobo with Abigail. “How’s it going?” asked Abigail. Hobo was excited, “Abigail, it worked! I visited Dad in his sleep and explained that even though Mocha was alive, it wasn’t much of a life anymore. Mocha was ready. Dad could see clearly after that. He gathered up Auntie Chelsea and her family and they said their goodbyes to Mocha and freed him. He’s coming, soon! I can’t wait to see him again. I’ve missed him!”
Abigail was happy for Hobo. She knew Hobo missed his buddy. Then, the bell rang again. Abigail said, “Congratulations! You’ve earned your wings, too!” Hobo looked behind him. There were wings on this back! He said, “Imagine that, I earned my wings for helping Mocha! Come on! Let’s go look for him!”
Abigail said, “You two go on ahead, I’ll catch up with you in a minute.” Hobo and Duffy used their new wings to fly off and look for Mocha. Abigail had to check in with Enzo. “Hi Enzo. How are you?” Enzo replied, “I OK. I try to find an udder me for Merlot and Dad, but no luck so far.” Abigail suggested, “Well, you can earn your wings by helping any bunny, you know.” Enzo said, “Ya, I know. But I promise Merlot. I keep trying.” Abigail admired his loyalty. “OK. You can do that. There’s no rush. Merlot is taking good care of Dad. Come on, let’s go greet Mocha.” The two angels headed off to catch up with Hobo and Duffy.
