5 bunches of dandelion leaves
“4 curly kale”
“5 lacinato kale”
Dad rattled off the quantities for the checkout girl at the produce market.
“12 bunches of parsley”
“12 bunches of cilantro”
Then he placed 6 Cosmic Crisp apples on the scale.
Finally, he placed 14 bananas on the scale.
The customer behind him asked, “Are you making smoothies?”
The checkout girl wondered, “Do you own a restaurant?”
Dad thought about how to answer the question for a brief moment. In a way, he did own a restaurant. He supplied food for three cafes. Rabbit cafes…
Dad finally blurted out, “Rabbits. I have rabbits.”
The customer laughed and said, “I thought you were eating really healthy!”
The checkout girl asked, “How many rabbits do you have?”
Dad explained, “Well, I have three house rabbits. But I have around fifteen wild rabbits living in the yard. They get three meals a day.”
The checkout girl observed, “Wow. Lucky rabbits!”
Dad laughed, “Ya, they’re probably the most spoiled wild rabbits in the world.”
Dad paid the bill and said, “OK. See you in three days.”
All those greens, supplemented with Small Pet Select hay, would barely last three days.
Shopping for greens. What are they for? Smoothies? A restaurant?
