Chapter 116 - Trust
It was a warm afternoon. Merlot sat in Dad’s lap outside on the deck, listening to the birds chirp. Dad brushed her coat, first with the blue rubber brush and then with the Hairbuster comb. Merlot liked the feel of the brush running through her coat. When he was finished, her coat always felt lighter and softer.
Being a small Dwarf rabbit, it was not in her nature to jump into Dad’s lap on her own. But if Dad picked her up and placed her there, she was OK with it. She trusted him.
Dad finished grooming and used his hands to pet her and remove any last loose fur. He picked her up and turned her around and placed her against his chest. He gave her a kiss on her head and said softly, “I love you, Merlot. You’re my sweetheart!”
Merlot settled into the crook of Dad’s arm. It was cozy there. She relaxed and drifted off to sleep. Dad could feel her little body go limp. He looked down at her. She was sound asleep! This was a first for Merlot. She had never fallen asleep in his arms before. He was honored. This was the ultimate expression of trust!
Dad relaxed and enjoyed the view of the trees, cherishing the moment. He was not going to move until she woke up.

Merlot trusts Dad enough to fall asleep in his arms.
