Hello. It's Belinda.
This is part two of last week's blog. I ran out of time.
Which is ironic when you consider what I was writing about.
Daylight Saving Time.
I'm not a fan. Are you?
Every time they turn the clocks back I feel like a slug for weeks. No offense to slugs.
So I keep trying to get the people in charge of clocks to knock off all this nonsense. Just let time be time.
There's no need to make sunrise come an hour early. That just means breakfast is late every day. Rabbits like to "run a tight ship."
Which leads me to my new "aha moment" about Daylight Saving Time.
It has to do with "military time."
I just learned about it.
In military time, you don't talk about 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Instead, you say it's "0600 hours" and "1800 hours."
How to you like that.
Same thing for 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. You would call that 0100 hours and 1300 hours.
This next part is where it gets hinky.
In military time, midnight is 0000.
That means it's "zero o'clock."
Maybe that seems perfectly fine to everyone. But what happens when Daylight Saving Time rolls around?
You would turn time back one hour. And suddenly your 0000 hours is 2300 hours.
Zero minus one is not 2300.
But there's nothing you can do about that. You’re stuck going the wrong way on the "time number line." It’s no wonder everyone feels out of sorts.
It’s almost as bad as the Celsius to Fahrenheit situation. No one ever settled that one either. On the one hand, they say water freezes at 32 degrees. But others say no, it freezes at zero degrees.
That's the whole problem with humans. If they don’t like their score, they just write a better number on the card.
Well there you have it. That's my big discovery.
Daylight Saving Time doesn't work. Because of military time.
If any of you know the people in charge of hours, please forward this blog to them.
Thanks for your support. It means the world to me.
Sincerely,
Belinda
