Belinda Says Hay: “Daylight Spending Time”

Belinda Says Hay spokesrabbit blog, March 9, 2025. "Daylight Spending Time"

Hello. It's Belinda.

I have a trick question for you.

What time is it?

That's right. It's back.

"Daylight Saving Time."

If everything looks "off" today that's why. The light isn't where it's supposed to be.

If you've been reading my blogs for a while, you know I'm not a fan of "marching ahead" and "falling behind."

Come on.

In fact every time they mess with the clocks, I write about it in my blog.

For example, six months ago I had to "point out" that zero minus one does not equal 2300.  Even I know that.

In another blog I wrote about finding out I was born on the International Date Line.

There's even one where my roommate makes me watch The Dark Side of the Bun.

Maybe you like drawings. I drew time once. It took me a month.

And after all my research, I still don't know who's in charge of Daylight Saving Time.

I wish I knew.

Because I would ask them something important.

When are we going to stop "saving" all this daylight and start "spending" some of it?

It's the most obvious question in the world.

Sometimes I have to work late but it's too dark under the utility sink. Which is my office.

Don't ask.

Anyway it would be nice to have some "extra daylight" on those days. Just for a few hours.

Another example. Let's say you need a long weekend but there isn't a holiday in sight.

No problem. Just dip into your "daylight stash" and take out 24 hours. Now you have an extra "Sun" day.

If you're wondering how I came up with this, the answer is I have no idea.

But I need to run it past the "clock people." The sooner the better.

Surely they have enough daylight in their savings account by now. No reason to keep "yanking" the days back and forth every six months.

OK now if you remember I have a word of the year for 2025.

It's the word "ask."

And that's exactly what I'm going to do to close this blog. I'm going to "ask" you to share this with your friends.

Maybe one of them knows who's in charge of Daylight Saving Time. Or maybe they have a "friend of a friend" who knows someone.

You never know.

Thank you for your help. It means the world to me.

"Happy Daylight Spending Time" to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Belinda
