Belinda Says Hay: “Merlot’s Project”

Hello. It's Belinda.

Well it's finally here. "Sweater weather." That's what my roommate calls it.

I don't wear clothes by the way. I'm plenty warm. 

Everyone in this house sleeps better in the fall and winter. We all like to "burrow" if you know what I mean.

Do you like cool weather? And the leaves changing colors? If you have time, send me a photo of your "view." Wherever it is.

I like to see the places everyone lives. It's fun.

I hope you had a chance to read my blog from last week. It's one of my most important blogs ever.

The topic is "Why Rabbits Bite and Lick." 

My friend Nova H. sent me the idea and I'm glad she did. Because some rabbits are taking a chomp out of their roommates and that's not a good plan.

Be sure to share the blog with other rabbits and roommates. A lot of humans need the "info."   

OK now for the big news.

Every week, I have a work meeting with Merlot, the Small Pet Select novelist. You can get a "peek" into one of our meetings in this chapter from back in April. 

A few weeks ago, Merlot told me about a big idea she had "cooked up." It's a fundraiser to help rabbits at The Rabbit Haven, a rescue run by "Auntie Heather" near The House of Buns in California.

When Abigail was the company novelist, she organized several fundraisers for The Rabbit Haven. Merlot wants to do her part to carry on Abigail’s legacy.

Recently, she found out that The Rabbit Haven Facebook page has 98,000 followers. She figured if all of those followers gave one dollar, a lot of rabbits could be helped with veterinary care and other needs.

So she invented a campaign called "The Merlot $1 Challenge."

At my meeting with Merlot this week, I asked how much the fundraiser has raised so far.

She said thanks to a lot of generous rabbit lovers, The Merlot $1 Challenge has raised about $1500.

I told her that was an excellent start. But I could tell she was disappointed.
