Hello friends, I am back again with honestly more goodness to be grateful for. My last blog I was writing with a full stomach. Today I’m a little hungry and I’m going to dig right into my hay pile when I finish but my stomach may be influencing the topic I have for you today: holiday treats.
While this is the season for gratitude, it’s also the season for food. Good food. Fancy food. The kind you sit around a table and eat with your Aunt Kathy.
While you’re sitting around watching the humans make food this holiday, I hope you can get your paws on some fun guinea pig holiday treats. I’ve tested out a few great options for holiday munching and I have come here today to give you my reviews.
Pea Flakes
For those people who know me, they may be rolling their eyes. He’s still talking about Pea Flakes? Yes, I am. I always will be! Pea Flakes aren’t new for me but I don’t know how we can talk about holiday treats without Pea Flakes.
They’re the homey feeling of November. Big Mama makes green beans for Thanksgiving but I don’t know why they don’t just eat peas.
Pea flakes are light and crispy and don’t leave you feeling bogged down. Little Mama loves to hide pea flakes in my hay pile. I think she sneaks them in there when I’m sleeping. Maybe she is sneaking them in there right now as I write this!
Dried Red Clover
Something new that I had the other day was Dried Red Clover. It tastes earthy but not bitter so I thought it was a great holiday treat for a feast. There’s still more in the bag so I will definitely be getting more of that this month. The sweetness is very subtle, something I love in a treat. The flavors are adventuring my friends.
Apple Flavored Healthy Snackers
I talked a lot about Pumpkin Healthy Snackers last month, so this month I’m putting an apple pie spin on this classic treat. Apple Healthy Snackers are for all you cavies with a sweet tooth that can’t be tamed.
Since Healthy Snackers are mostly hay, you can have more of them! The dried apple adds just a touch of sweetness and apples are plentiful in the fall so you still get the taste of the season.
Little Mama tells me about their traditional holiday meal and how her friends do something completely different. Not all humans have turkey! Or even pie!
This left me shocked and it made me wonder, do all guinea pigs eat pea flakes? Or even Healthy Snackers? I’ve never met someone who doesn’t like Healthy Snackers.
