There’s a bit of a rumor going around here at home. And I want to nip it in the bud before it’s all over the internet.
It has to do with me being jealous. Which is not true.
The whole thing started over a treat called “Meadow Loops.” Have you tried them yet?
They look like this.
Everyone knows I am a big fan of healthy snackers. Especially certain ones.
Well it turns out I like Meadow Loops too. They have a good crunch.
And until a week or two ago, I enjoyed a little “Meadow Loop routine” at bedtime.
My roommate would break a loop or two into pieces. Then give two pieces to me and two to my boyfriend’s companion. Mine were a lot bigger but so am I.
When she passed my treats to me, she used a little “sleight of hand” if you know what I mean. So nobody knew what was going on.
Well ever since my boyfriend’s companion got sick, all routines are out the window.
For one thing dinner is late a lot. Also my roommate leaves a “night light” on in the kitchen. So you-know-who doesn’t walk into things.
I like a dark bedroom but I make do. Plus this isn’t a bedroom.
The good news is the bladder infection is gone. So no more “banana-flavored medicine.” Also no more eye drops.
As far as I could tell, she was getting back to normal. No reason for her to stay in the “sick pen” in the kitchen. Which means I could stop working and sleeping up here too.
But one morning she stumbled against the water bowl. Her back foot got wet.
I turned my head when I heard the splash. She was leaning to the side.
“The floor is moving,” she said.
I wanted to argue with her but I stopped myself just in time. Because the only reason I wanted to argue is because I was scared.
So no matter what you hear about me that is what I want everyone to know. I’m a good friend no matter how much I like healthy snackers and now Meadow Loops.
They went back to the vet and came home with a new medicine. For the dizziness.
Little Fang hates medicine. Closes her mouth and turns her head.
My roommate figured out that if she mixes Meadow Loop “crumbles” with the medicine, everything goes smoothly. The patient licks it off the plate and looks for more.
You might wonder how many loops are “crumbled” for each dose. That question keeps me up at night if you want to know the truth.
When my roommate shakes them out of the box, I watch for the old sleight of hand.
She caught me staring the other day and gave me a “side look.”
“I’m sorry Belinda. It’s too early for your treat.”
She kept working and I kept staring at the box. And I stared as she put the plate on the floor, in front of my boyfriend’s companion. I had nothing to lose.
She finally noticed me. And then she said it.
“Don’t be jealous, Belinda. Little Fang needs her medicine.”
Once again I wanted to argue. But instead I turned and walked downstairs to the bottom level. Stayed there the rest of the afternoon.
I am not jealous. All I know is my boyfriend’s companion is getting more loops than I am.
