Belinda Says Hay: “Too Busy to Celebrate My Birthday”

Hello. It's Belinda. 

I hope you are having a good week. I’m happy to report I don’t have to take the medicine anymore. Which is a big relief.

Now it's time to catch up at work. I got behind while I was sick.

I’m getting things “checked off my list” which isn’t easy with you-know-who around. My roommate.

Speaking of that, she’s around a lot these days. More on that in a minute.

My big news is my birthday. It’s on April 22, which is Wednesday.

You might be wondering if I have plans and the answer is no. Which is a shame in my opinion.

My roommate says she’s “too busy” right now. Or something along those lines.

I don’t want to be pushy but I have only one birthday a year. Come on.

Last year it was extra fun. First, Josh from the warehouse sent me some edible flowers.

I’m sure he’ll send me a little treat for my birthday this year. He always remembers.

Also last year I got my own email account. Belinda@smallpetselect.com. Which was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Even though I got in over my head. Everything turned out fine.

Two years ago I had a special birthday too. Because the team at work and my friends around the country gave me a su​rprise birthday​ party.

Which was more of a shock than a surprise if you want to know the truth. Since I thought I was being fired.

My roommate knows I want to celebrate my birthday again.  But she says it’s “too hard with everything going on.”

With what going on?

Anyway, I offered to throw a party for myself. Like the very successful “H​ay Moon” party I hosted.

"Belinda, we can’t have people over right now.”

Then I hear her on the phone.

“I know, me too. Been cooped up like this for a month.”

Which is true. She goes to the grocery store every now and then. Other than that, she’s underfoot and bothering me while I’m trying to work.

I thought all of this was odd enough. But the other day, my roommate  did something that “took the cake.”

She went to the store to buy greens for us. Romaine, parsley, dandelion, red leaf lettuce. You never know what she’ll bring home.

I was in the kitchen when I heard the front door open. I ran around the bend to help with the bags and I stopped in my tracks.

She was wearing a mask.

My roommate was walking around with a mask on. Covering her nose and mouth.

I don’t know what any of this means. “Maybe I don’t want to know.”

Well I just read through this blog and I'm sorry. It isn’t very professional.

Just wanted to give an update on what’s happening with my birthday. Or not happening.

Also thought I should get it on record. I’m talking about “the Lone Ranger.”
