NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY is proudly observed annually on MAY 20.
National Rescue Dog Day was founded to bring awareness to the countless number of amazing dogs in shelters waiting to be adopted, to promote humane education for young children, and to encourage spay/neuter. The day was inspired by Cooper (pictured above) who was rescued in 2009.

#1: Tessa journeyed all the way from Texas to Colorado to find her forever home. She lives with an outdoorsy family and hiking is a part of her regular routine now. While out on the trail, Tessa snacks on non-gmo Dr. Beckers Bites to keep her energy up. Naps help too!

#2: Daisy was rescued last year and is about to celebrate her 5th birthday with her new family. She plays fetch all day and loves to chew on her Goughnut Ring. At the end of the day, she cuddles with whoever's on the couch.

#3: Ella settled into her new home just a few months ago. She enjoys cuddles on the couch (I'm starting to see a theme here!) as well as home cooked meals.
A great way to strengthen the relationship when bringing a new dog into your home is by playing games. It's mentally stimulating for them and a joy to observe.

#4: Rhett (blonde) and Whisper (brindle) are a match made in heaven. They are also taking this cuddle on the couch theme to a whole new level!
Whisper, a 1 year old corgi/dachshund, came home first as a super shy rescue with HUGE ears and a HUGE heart. After a few months, her family decided she needed a friend so they adopted Whisper, a 6 month old chihuahua/pug.
They both have sparkly teethies from the Brushless Toothpaste Dental Chews.

#5: Paden is a pit bull/australian shepherd mix. She was adopted as a wee pup from a shelter that had taken in she and 4 of her siblings. Hands down, she's the smartest dog ever! Super sweet, gentle and loyal to the core.
As she ages, her family gives her Joint Rescue Mobility Chews to help her move a bit more easily.

UK friends, send us your photos.
We can't wait to feature you. Cheers!
#6: Chelsea was adopted as a 2 month old shelter pup. Dad had literally just said "No way, no more dogs. Absolutely not!" but came home from work to this wiggly cocker spaniel. She's a sassy, tiny little thing that now rules the household!
If you're undecided on if it's the right time to bring home a dog (or if Dad has simply said NO!), check out our Foster Parenting blog to see if that might be an option.

#7: Taffy was eleven when she was adopted from the Boulder Valley Humane Society. We all know the saying Dog is Man's Best Friend. Taffy says the feeling is mutual. She's so happy in her new home with her new best friend!
Dogs are special, they are family. The stories of our lives with them are always with us.

#8: Precious was 10 years old and the "dog of the week" at a local shelter when her new family opened their hearts to her. This little chihuahua was a cancer survivor, had a heart murmur, bad teeth and a plethora of other health ailments but that didn't stop them for a second. They figured they'd give her a loving home and because of that Precious has thrived.
(Although Precious is currently considering putting in a complaint about the early morning photo shoots. Go back to bed Mom!!!)
Good thing Mom knows best and breakfast will be served with Honest Kitchen Bone Broth with tumeric and parsley.

#9: Charley was recently adopted from New Mexico Animal Welfare Shelter. She's a 10 month old puppy who loves to chew...everything.
Check out all of our dog chews and toys, keep 'em busy and keep 'em out of trouble!

#10: Last but not least, say hello to Ms. Harper. Although you'll need to use sign language as she was born deaf. She's a spunky and beautiful 8 month old Blue Heeler rescue who has been in her new home for 3 months. What she misses from any audible stimulation, she makes up for in eating (everything), chewing, and kissing.
Her new family says that as much as she loves ornamental grasses and dandelion heads on her daily walks, she would probably also love to eat the Small Pet Select hay, pellets, and cubes they have for their bunnies. She will eat just about anything you put in front of her!!
