Hello. It's Belinda.
Happy first day of June. I hope you have a chance to "stop and smell the flowers" today.
It's the perfect time for relaxing outdoors.
And that's not all. June is also a good time to say "Congratulations, graduate!"
That's because a lot of graduation ceremonies take place in June. High school, college and more. The celebrations start in May and keep going for over a month.
Are you a 2025 graduate? Let me know in the comments. Or email me at Belinda@smallpetselect.com.
I'm going to write about graduations next week.
OK one last thing I want to say about June. And it isn't very nice.
June is the time of year that many "Easter rabbits" are dumped outside.
I told you it wasn't nice.
In fact, at the end of June last year, a family in my very own neighborhood released their rabbit near the woods behind their house.
She was just a baby.
Her name is Eleanor and I wrote about her in my blog.

My roommate and some other helpers rescued her but it wasn't easy. Eleanor was extra-sneaky and fast.
But eventually they caught her in a trap.
I invited my roommate to write a "how to" blog about the whole thing.
I hope you will take a minute to read that blog. And to share it with your friends.
"How to Catch a Stray Rabbit" tells you everything you need to know about getting domestic rabbits to safety.
A lot of rabbits end up on the streets, including many of my friends. You can read just a few of their stories here. I had no idea this happened to so many rabbits. House rabbits are supposed to be in the house.
Come on.
After Eleanor had settled into her new home for a few months, some of you wanted to know how she was doing.

Turned out Eleanor's running the house.
I got a note from her just this week.
During the day she naps by her "Daddy's" feet while he works at his desk. But she always wakes up in time for important meetings on the computer.
The boss recently promoted Eleanor to "team lead" but didn't give her a job description. So she's going to try chewing on her cardboard box more loudly at the next meeting.
I told her that sounds like an excellent plan. And that her Daddy sounds like a "good egg."
Not just because he lets her come to work with him. But because he left a wonderful surprise for me in the door recently.
It was a "mysterious envelope."
And when my roommate opened it, here's what we saw.

Eleanor's Daddy painted my portrait.
Can you believe it?
My roommate and I stared at it for the longest time. It's a true work of art in my opinion.
Well that's all for today.
I hope you enjoyed this update about the stray rabbit, now known as Eleanor.
A lot can change in a year.
Sincerely,
Belinda
