Belinda Says Hay: “Bedtime Story by The English”

Hello. It's Belinda.

First things first. Is it extra hot or stormy where you live?

This weather is nonsense in my opinion. Come on.

Speaking of nonsense, this blog is about the English. Mostly about the bedtime story he told during our recent "slumber party."

You can read my roommate's story here. She put herself to sleep with it.

Last week, Little Fang told one too. The plot was a little "thin" in my opinion.

But she made it up all by herself. I have to give her credit for that.

After she finished, the English took his turn. I don't want to say too much about him in my blog. He might report me. I wouldn’t put it past him. I should probably delete this entire paragraph.

The good news is I can say all I want about "his" bedtime story because he stole it from my roommate.

That's right. He told Little Fang and me that she reads a book to him sometimes to help him fall asleep. The book has pictures of rabbits inside.

My roommate has never read a book to Little Fang and me. But the English has heard it so many times he has it memorized. How do you like that.

Here's the story.

"A Bedtime Story by the English, Stolen from My Roommate"

"In the big beige room

there was a clothing rack

and a healthy snack

and a picture of--

a sky full of yellow stars​

and there were three little bees, riding the breeze

and two big pillows and a pile of willow

and a little hay chew and a box for a loo

and a phone going dark on the ledge by the head

of the quiet lady who was saying "Shhh, go to bed."

Goodnight room.

Goodnight snack.

Goodnight stars shining white on the rack.

Goodnight bees. Goodnight bed.

Goodnight snuggle with a pat on the head.

Goodnight pillow. Goodnight willow.

Goodnight phone.

Goodnight snore.

Goodnight bunny stretched out flat on the floor.

Goodnight moon.

Goodnight sky.

Goodnight me and you,

you and I."
