Belinda Says Hay: “Congratulations, Graduate!“

Belinda Says Hay spokesrabbit blog, " Congratulations, Graduate!" June 8, 2025

Hello. It's Belinda.

I recently learned something new about rabbits.

I learned that some rabbits have jobs even if they don’t go to an office. Or work under a utility sink like I do.

Their jobs are to help their roommates with school.

I’m not talking about doing homework for them. Or chewing their homework when they need to use that as an excuse for the teacher.

Just kidding.

Actually, sometimes the best way you can help your roommate get through schoolwork is to sit quietly nearby while they study for tests. Or write papers.

"No loud chewing."

You might wonder why I’m writing about school in my blog. It’s because I got a very special card from my friend Rory.

Rory spent some time at Gainesville Rabbit Rescue in Florida. One day her roommate Alex showed up, and the rest is history.

A few weeks ago, Alex graduated from school. She’s going to be a doctor so Rory will need to call her "Dr. Roommate."

My own roommate says it takes a lot of “grit” to graduate from medical school. According to Alex, Rory helped her all along the way.

How do you like that. Rory really went the extra mile in my opinion. "Way to go" to both of you.

In last week's blog I asked if anyone else is graduating this year.

My friend Clover told me her roommate's daughter Lilith graduated from high school and get this. They had decorations all over the house to celebrate, including balloons and flowers.

Clover wanted to eat the flowers which is normal. But she wasn't allowed.

I'm not sure how Clover feels about balloons but my bestie Little Fang is not a fan. Says they look like big birds "swooping" through the house.

My friend Sara shared a photo of a rabbit who looks like a long lost family member of mine. Maybe a second cousin "twice removed."

I'm from New Zealand so it's hard to say. But anyway that's not why Sara wrote to me.

She said that rabbit is "one proud bun" because her young family member has just graduated from high school. Sara posted a photo of him posing with his high school diploma.

I'm not sure if his high school is in New Zealand but either way, "congratulations" on your achievement. That includes my potential fourth cousin.

Speaking of photos. My friend River shared this nice portrait of her daughter and Strawberry.

River wrote:

"My daughter is graduating high school next week and brought her bunny, Strawberry, to the photo shoot. Fun fact - Amazon sells tiny graduation caps!"

Strawberry looks very pleased to be included in the graduation portrait. I'm glad I saw this and I hope it's OK that I used it in my blog.

Thank you again to everyone who let me know about the graduations in your family this year.

And congratulations to all the graduates. I’m so happy for you. It’s not easy to “buckle down” and do schoolwork.

I hope you get to enjoy your favorite treats and relax a bit.

And to all the rabbits who helped. Give yourself a treat too.

Sincerely,

Belinda
