First things first. Happy Mother's Day to everyone who celebrates.
I hope you get your favorite treat.
Also a nap. And then another treat.
"It's your day."
As for my mom, I don't know what she's up to these days. I haven't seen her since I left New Zealand.
The funny thing is I can't remember much about my childhood. Including riding an airplane to the USA. You would think I would remember that. It's a long flight.
Anyway, if my shelter papers did not say “New Zealand” I would have no clue where I was born.
I landed in the perfect home and that's what matters.
Speaking of home. This blog is about my roommate.
Even though we don't call her "Mom," Little Fang thinks we should give her something nice for Mother's Day.
"She's good to us," Little Fang said.
"For one thing, she never complains about my pen."
Not to be rude but Little Fang is not a good housekeeper. "To put it mildly."
She stays inside a double pen. Because of some confidential private health issues, her floor is always covered in pee pads.
Last year she made a resolution to keep her space tidy.
That didn't last long.
Anyway, Little Fang is right. Our roommate is good to us. She deserves to have a little surprise gift now and then.
But what should we give her?
Another big problem is I don't have any cash. Neither does Little Fang.
You might think with all my spokesrabbit work I would get an "allowance."
Not going to happen. My roommate is in charge of my finances. We don't talk about it.
So I asked Little Fang if she had any ideas.
She didn't answer. She just stood in her pen, staring at me through the bars.
She stared for such a long time I thought she had fallen asleep with her eyes open.
Then she said it.
"She likes bread."
Come on.
I checked my stash for bread and I'm fresh out.
Pretty sure Josh from the warehouse would say the same thing.
So that's all I have to report on the "Roommate's Day" gift.
