Hello. It's Belinda.
First things first. I hope you are doing OK in this weather.
I saw on TV that it's extra cold and windy all over the country. Same here in Pittsburgh. "Too cold" in my opinion.
My roommate even put some food out for the birds this morning. Seeds and fruit and such. Which was nice except she left the front door open.
Does your roommate get distracted when she's doing chores? Asking for a friend.
Anyway she was outside for at least ten minutes. Which is not how long it takes to feed birds.
Meanwhile I was dealing with an "icy breeze" on my whiskers. All because I was napping by the couch which is supposed to be warm.
Anyway enough about all of that. I have an important business announcement.
I hope you had a chance to read my New Year blog. It talked about some "highlights" from the past year.
Plus I mentioned I have big projects lined up for 2024.
I'm working on the first one right now. It's about "home care" for rabbits when they are sick.
A few examples of that are:
- noticing "odd" behaviors
- syringe feeding
- offering tempting foods
- spot cleaning messy fur
- giving liquid medicine
- wiping goopy eyes
- keeping stitches clean
- giving tummy massages
- using ear drops from the vet
- using eye drops from the vet
- measuring weight
- helping with bathroom issues
- getting "samples" from the loo
That's just for starters. You can see why I need to do a lot of research.
So I hope the roommates reading this can help.
If you have time, could you answer a few questions for me?
Research questions for roommates:
Did you ever take care of a rabbit during an illness or injury?
Or after surgery?
Or just when they were "getting up in years?"
How did you learn to give care at home?
What was the hardest part for you?
What was the hardest part for the rabbit?
What would you like other roommates to know?
Leave your answers in the comments or email to Belinda@smallpetselect.com
Please share this blog so other roommates can "chime in." The more ideas and tips for my research the better.
This is probably the most important project I've ever worked on in my job.
Thanks in advance for your help.
"Keep warm."
Sincerely,
Belinda
