Belinda Says Hay: “How To Be A Rabbit Dad“

Belinda Says Hay spokesrabbit blog, "How To Be A Rabbit Dad" June 15, 2025

Hello. It's Belinda.

Happy Father's Day to everyone who celebrates.

I hope you get all your favorite treats today. Plus a nap.

My dad is in New Zealand somewhere. Not sure what he's up to today. I lost touch with everyone when I flew from NZ to the US.

I don't remember much about my "early days" if you want to know the truth.

Anyway enough about me.

For today's blog I thought it would be fun to try something different.

A few weeks ago I told everyone I want to write a "how to" blog series over the summer. I asked you for ideas and you sent some good ones.

And as a special tribute to all the "dad roommates" out there, I thought I'd write a blog about the special things "rabbit dads" do for some of my friends.

First up is my friend Colin.

In the photo, Colin is enjoying a carrot top while his roommate reads my blog to him. It was their Sunday morning routine.

There are two "take-aways" here for BDITs. (Bun Dads in Training.)

First, make sure to give your rabbit friend the snacks he likes best.

Second, find a hobby you can enjoy together.

OK now for the next example.

This is my friend Winston.

He also goes by "Chief Rabbit."

When Winston first joined the family, one of his roommates slept with him for several nights so he wouldn't feel alone or abandoned.

I'm not sure if that's his "rabbit dad" snoozing under the blanket. If not, he's the one taking the photo.

So either way, he's doing an excellent job of making Winston feel welcome.

Rabbits like to feel welcome. That never stops in my opinion.

Last but not least is Thunder.

When Thunder was just a baby, he somehow ended up in a parking lot all by himself.

Can you imagine.

Next thing you know there are crows on the wires above him, calling out to each other. Nothing good comes from that.

Suddenly a hero named "Papa" appeared.

Thunder ran toward Papa and hopped into his hands. And he's been safe ever since.

So if you want to know "how to be a rabbit dad," I hope this blog gives you some good ideas.

Share snacks. Have fun. Take naps. Take photos.

And do whatever you can to protect your little "kit."

I hope you liked this how to blog.
