Belinda Says Hay: “Little Fang’s List, Part 2”

Belinda Says Hay spokesrabbit blog, March 31, 2024: "Little Fang's List, Part 2"

Hello. It's Belinda.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

Did the "Easter bunny" bring you a basket?

I hope so. That's his job.

Just kidding.

I usually write about my roommate's  Easter "antics." Every year she tears the house apart looking for candy.

But I can't get into that right now. I promised a follow-up from last week's blog.

If you missed what happened last week, it was a "doozy."

Little Fang told me she had a plan for fixing the eclipse.

And even though I don't 100% understand it, I think her plan might work.

I even sent five emails to NASA. Asking if anyone there can take a look.

No reply so far.

In the meantime I keep asking Little Fang to explain it to me.

"The moon is like a boomerang," she tells me.

But a human doesn't fling the moon up toward the sky and hope it comes back. According to Little Fang, the earth does the flinging. Using tides and gravity.

I guess I still looked confused.

"Pretend the earth is playing with a big hula hoop. And the moon is stuck to the hula hoop."

I nodded as if I understood.

Then she told me the moon "travels all the way out but then turns and comes back."

But sometimes the earth shifts to the left or right and you should not do that when you fling the moon. Because when it boomerangs back the moon has to shift left or right to find you and that can take a few minutes.

So the moon "cuts in front of the sun" to get back faster and boom. There's your eclipse. Day turns into night.

If you're wondering why there's a "path" around the earth during an eclipse, Little Fang has an answer for that too. That's the shadow of the hula hoop.

Like I said, I don't know how it all works. I just want day and night to stay where they are.

On that note Little Fang gave me a list of "supplies" she needs to cancel the eclipse. She asked me to share it in my blog.

Little Fang's "Stop the Eclipse" list:

  • compass
  • blue marble
  • magnifying glass
  • protractor
  • magnet
  • small round mirror
  • metronome
  • clock with no hands
  • slinky
  • trampoline
  • folding chair

She said everyone should have these items "ready to go" on Monday, April 8.

If I find out anything more I'll write about it in next week's blog.

Sincerely,

Belinda
