Belinda Says Hay: “Midwest BunFest Is Oct. 7”

Belinda Says Hay spokesrabbit blog "Midwest BunFest is Oct 7" Sept 10 2023

Hello. It's Belinda.

Last week was my sixth year on the job as your spokesrabbit. It was also Labor Day here in the US.

I decided to celebrate both by writing about all the "rabbit workers" who pitch in when we need a little help.

I gave a shout out to those of you who help at rescues and shelters.

Also to those who "corral" us when we're running loose in fields and city streets. We belong indoors.

Plus foster volunteers. Sometimes a rabbit needs to "couch surf" if you know what I mean. Behind the couch if you can fit.

Anyway I knew I would forget something important and boy did I ever.

For example, veterinarians.

And vet techs.

And everyone else at the vet office to be honest. They fuss over rabbits and I don't mind.

And what about event organizers? At shelters or libraries or other places in the community. Adoption events and classes and so forth.

It takes a lot of people working together to "pull off" a rabbit event.

But it's worth it. Because special events help roommates learn from vets and other experts. So they can take A+ care of us.

Special events also let rescues sell "swag" and raise money for vet bills, hay, supplies and gas money.

Best of all, they let "rabbit people" get together and talk about their favorite subject.

Which brings me to today's topic.

Midwest BunFest.

It's back.

Plan now to attend Saturday, October 7, at the Sheraton Suites Columbus Worthington. That's in Ohio.

The slogan this year is "Not all heroes wear capes."

Which goes right back to what I said about rabbit workers. But the Midwest BunFest website says it better than I can.

The website explains that the event "celebrates the remarkable efforts of countless individuals who tirelessly contribute to the well-being of these furry friends.

From the selfless volunteers who brave harsh weather conditions to rescue abandoned strays, to the compassionate adopters providing loving forever homes, every act of kindness plays a pivotal role in this heartwarming journey.

At Midwest BunFest, we firmly believe that it takes a village, and we wholeheartedly cherish the rabbit rescue community for their remarkable dedication and compassion."

There's a lot to do at Midwest BunFest.

For example, you can attend educational sessions about  ear infections, dental issues, GI stasis and bloat, bonding, giving medications at home, grief and pet insurance.

Rabbits can enjoy some "beauty treatments" at the Bunny Spa. There is high demand for these spa services, so be sure to read how the spa works and schedule in advance.

That's just for starters.

Small Pet Select is a sponsor again this year. We'll have a table with lots of goodies. Be sure to stop by.

Not sure if they'll choose me to work the table. It's the perfect "gig" for a spokesrabbit in my opinion.

Plus I like that hotel. The last time I went to BunFest I rode up and down the halls in my Belindamobile.

If you're wondering who was pushing me it was one my own heroes.

That's all for now.

I hope you have a good week.

Sincerely,

Belinda
