Belinda Says Hay: “More Sky Nonsense”

Belinda Says Hay spokesrabbit blog, "More Sky Nonsense" May 26, 2024

Hello. It's Belinda.

It's Memorial Day weekend here in the US. Wherever you are, I hope you'll have some time to relax.

Did you hear about our holiday weekend deal?  You can save 15% on bedding and treats. Tell your rabbit, chinchilla and cavy friends to use code MEMORIAL24 at checkout.

See all the bedding and treats on sale here.

OK that takes care of the business side of this blog. Now I have some additions to last week's message about the tornado and the Northern Lights

The good news is we didn't have any tornados on our street.

The bad news is one "touched down" about four miles away.  Pittsburgh isn't supposed to get tornados but tell that to the sky.

Which brings me to my second update.

Last week I mentioned that my roommate ran off in the middle of the night to see the Northern Lights.

I'm not sure what time she got home. But I woke from a deep sleep when I heard "thump-thump" by the front door. When my roommate kicks off her shoes they don't land quietly. She doesn't think about what's below.

She walked to the kitchen and turned on the big light. Some of the glare leaked down onto the wall beside Little Fang's pen.

As a reminder rabbits like to sleep in the dark. Burrows don't have "night lights" if you know what I mean.

Next thing I know the steps were creaking. My roommate made it halfway down to the bottom level before she stopped. She leaned over the railing.

"I saw them bunnies." She was whispering but it was still loud.

"I saw the Northern Lights."

She stood on the steps for a few minutes. Breathing.

Then she walked back upstairs and turned off the kitchen light. I heard her above us in the living room, then on the steps to the bedroom level.

I thought that would be the end of it. But she spent the next day with the phone to her ear, talking to people about the Northern Lights.

"They were red and green and purple!"

She said the sky looked like candy.

"I'll send you a photo."

I heard her say this to three different people. She was very proud of her photo.

Now I want you to know that I thought a lot about including this next part. I even asked Little Fang for advice which is always a gamble.

But I want to know what you see.

This is my roommate's photo of the Northern Lights.*

Do you see all the colors?

The sky looks like candy and melting rainbows. According to some people.

OK.

Well that's enough blog for today.

Remember to check out the Memorial Day sale on bedding and treats.

Use code MEMORIAL24 at checkout.

*By the way I have permission to use this photo.

Sincerely,

Belinda
