It is 2:30 in the afternoon, and my tummy is rumbling. Of course, every dog, cat, and free roam house rabbit around here has had a snack except Mom, aka ME. I'm fibbing a little, but the fish don't need a snack. What should I have? We have a lot of healthy and unhealthy snacks around here, plus some fresh peach cobbler I made. I think you know where I am going with this. While I would really LOVE some cobbler, I decided to have some apple slices and peanut butter. The same concept goes for your hamster. We know you want to give them something delicious to brighten their day or save for later in those chubby cheeks. However, you don’t want to provide them with junk either. So today, we are going to find out what are healthy treats for hamsters.
Healthy treats for hamsters: why are they important?
Even though hamsters were domesticated almost one hundred years ago, they still enjoy foods like what they ate in their native environments. Originally from Syria, there are twenty-four hamster breeds worldwide. Additionally, hamsters are small and stout and therefore prone to weight gain. Some hammy species are also very susceptible to diabetes. Therefore, sticking to healthy snacks is essential for good health.
Yay for options…in moderation
