CHAPTER 66 – A PUFFY IN THE REAR
It was Saturday morning. Abigail was munching on some cilantro for breakfast, when she heard Dad laugh out loud as he read one of the entries in Small Pet Select’s Weekly Cuties. “Abigail,” he said, “this bun mom serenades her bunnies every morning with a song." It goes:
Are there any little bunnies here?
Is there any little honey with a floppy, loppy ear?
A chubby, charcoal gray one may be very, very near.
Are there any little bunnies here?
Are there any little bunnies here?
Is there any honey bunny with a puffy in the rear?
A pretty little Dutch girl may be very, very near.
Are there any little bunnies here?
“That’s so funny! A puffy in the rear. You have a puffy in the rear, too!” laughed Dad, “We should come up with some verses for you and Bentley.”
He thought about it for a few minutes and said, “How about this?”:
Are there any little bunnies here?
Are there any little bunnies with tiny little ears?
A chestnut fluff ball may be very, very near.
Are there any little bunnies here?
Are there any little bunnies here?
Are there any little bunnies with spots on their rear?
A handsome little English may be very, very near.
Are there any little bunnies here?
Abigail just rolled her eyes. She thought it was kind of silly, and wondered, “Do all bun parents do this?”
From then on, Dad would sing this little jingle every morning when he came into the room. The funny thing was, after awhile, Abigail came to recognize the jingle. And she relaxed when she heard it, because she knew it was just Dad.
Special thanks to the song's original writer - Roberta Young (bun mom) and her adorable fluffers (Loppy and Simon).
