Through Abigail’s Eyes: The Flash (81)

Abigail at her typewriter

Abigail’s little ears perked up. They swiveled around, listening intently. Someone was banging on a door. She sat up. “Dad! I hear something downstairs. You’d better go check it out!” she thought.

The Flash

Dad looked over at Abigail. He wasn’t sure what she heard, but she usually had a good reason for signaling red alert. He looked around her territory but didn’t see anything, so he expanded his search downstairs.

Sure enough, he heard the same rattling sound. He honed in on the sound. It was coming from the sliding closet door in his bedroom. “Bentley, is that you?” he asked. He slid open the closet door and a white flash came bounding out. It was Bentley. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. I didn’t know you were in there!” said Dad, “You’re so fast and quiet!”

Earlier, Dad had only opened the closet door for a moment to get something out, but unbeknownst to him, the little white flash had darted inside. Normally, whenever Dad left the house, he would go around and make sure the buns were all fine. But in this case, he hadn’t gone anywhere.

Dad thought, “Note to self: Check closets before closing the door!” It was a good lesson.
