Chapter 47 - Treat Begging
Merlot finished her second loop. It was tasty. Being the official Head Treat Beggar, she knew how to work Dad. Enzo had advised her, “Dad easy. Just look cute.” She put her front paws up on his arm and gave him her cutest expression. “May I have another treat?” she asked.
Dad looked down at her adorable face. He said, “But sweetie. You’ve already had two loops.” Merlot just kept staring at him, like she was saying, “Yeah, so?”
Dad relented and said, “Well, how about I give you Enzo’s treat platter. You guys always share that anyway.” Merlot was good with that. She figured what’s hers was hers and what’s his was hers, too.
Dad shook the platter as he placed it on the floor. Enzo, who was still eating at the breakfast tray, perked up his ears. “That sounds like my treat platter!” he thought. Quickly, he dashed over to the coffee table and found Merlot nibbling at his treat platter. The audacity!
If looks could kill. Enzo looked up at Dad and gave him a dirty look and thought, “Dad! That MY treat platter! How could you?” Dad explained, “I’m sorry Enzo. You weren’t here. And she is the Head Treat Beggar now.”
Merlot said, “It’s OK Enzo, there’s plenty here.”
Fortunately, Enzo was a pretty forgiving rabbit and he loved Merlot. He saddled up beside her and shared his treat platter with her.
Enzo is miffed when Merlot gets his treat platter first.
