Chapter 293 - Her First Christmas
“Oh boy! It Christmas!” exclaimed Enzo as he ran over to the boxes Dad had brought down from the attic. Merlot chased after him, asking, “What’s Christmas?” This was Merlot’s “first time around the block,” whereas Enzo had been “around the block” a couple of times already. He was always eager to “show her the ropes.”
Enzo answered, “Christmas is when Dad make house pretty! We get a tree with lights! He make you a stocking for presents!” Enzo climbed on one of the tree boxes, “Dis our tree.” Merlot followed along behind. Then, Enzo went over to a big box and stood up on his back feet. “Dis ormanents. Dey go on tree.” Merlot was curious. She stood up on her back feet and peered inside the box.
Then they ran over to the fireplace. Enzo said, “Look! Dat stocking have your name on it!” Merlot was happy. She already got the Christmas wishes she wanted – a good home, a cute boyfriend, and a Dad who loved her! Everything else was a bonus!
Enzo explains Christmas to Merlot, "Dis da ormanents!"
