Chapter 65 –  The Rabbit Gallery

Chapter 65 - The Rabbit Gallery

Dad heard some noise coming from behind the bar. It sounded a bit like rapid machine gun firing. He went over to investigate.

Enzo was so deeply engrossed in chewing on a poster, that he didn’t even notice Dad approaching. “Enzo! What are you doing?” asked Dad. Enzo stopped chewing and looked up at Dad innocently, “Look what I made!” thought Enzo, “I create art!”

Dad looked at the circular cone with scalloped edges that was once a poster of his car. “Oh, I see,” he said. “That’s rabbit art?” he asked.

Enzo, looking somewhat proud, thought, “Yeth, Dad. It all over the house! We make da House of Buns a rabbit art gallery!”

Dad thought about it for a minute. He had never quite looked at it that way. Indeed, there was rabbit “artwork” everywhere. Merlot had given the couch pillows a dotted pattern. The baseboards featured a scalloped look. The door frames had been given a curved look. Downstairs, Bentley had sculpted a heart shape in the carpet and redecorated the pillows with an abstract pattern. The rabbits had even created rabbit-art wearables. Dad’s shirt featured a series of holes around the collar that resembled a necklace.

The only room that didn’t exhibit much rabbit artwork was the starship Bunnyprise, since it had been designed from the ground up to be “rabbit-proof.” The plastic baseboards were intact, the metal furniture legs were untouched, and the carpet was protected by vinyl flooring.

“Well, Enzo. I had no idea I had such a talented bunch of rabbits! You’re all so artistic!” exclaimed Dad. Enzo thought, “Ya, we very creative!” as put the finishing touches on the poster. Dad just smiled. What else could he do?
