Chapter 36 - Spoiled Buns
As Dad sat down on the floor for breakfast, Merlot, came bounding over. It was treat time!
Merlot: Treats, please!
Dad opened a new box of Orchard Loops, placed one between his teeth and lowered his head for Merlot to reach.
Dad: OK, here you go!
Merlot stood up on her back feet and sniffed the Loop. Then she sat down.
Merlot: No, not that one, Dad.
Dad thought maybe she missed the Loop. He tried again. Merlot stood up again and sniffed the Loop.
Merlot: Nope. Not that one!
She sat back down.
Dad grabbed a Berry Loop and placed it between his teeth and offered it to Merlot. Merlot stood up again and sniffed the Loop.
Merlot: Yes! That’s the one I want!
She grabbed it with her teeth and sat down beside Dad to nibble on her treat.
Just then, Enzo arrived upon the scene. Dad was ready with his treat platter and placed it down on the floor. Enzo gave it a once over and went over to Merlot. “Whatcha got? Can I have some?”
Merlot let her boyfriend have the rest of the loop and went back to Dad.
Merlot: More treats, please!
Dad thought maybe now she’d want the Orchard Loop, so he offered it to her. Merlot sniffed the Loop.
Merlot: Nope. Not that one!
Dad rolled his eyes. He grabbed a Berry Loop and placed it between his teeth and offered it to her. Merlot stood up and sniffed.
Merlot: Yes, that’s what I want!
Merlot grabbed the treat and hopped off to enjoy it.
Dad chuckled. Rabbits, just like people, get in the mood to eat certain things. These were definitely some spoiled buns, but he was happy to indulge them.
Merlot gets what she wants!
