Chapter 96 – The Couch

Chapter 96 - The Couch

It was the holiday season. Company was coming over. Dad looked forlornly at his couch. It had served him well for over two decades, but it was sagging in places and Enzo had “redecorated” the couch by adding little chew marks everywhere.

Before rabbits were in his life, his algorithm was to buy high-quality furnishings. Ignoring the advice, “If you like your house just so, you probably shouldn’t have rabbits,” he forged ahead and welcomed rabbits into his home, “redecorating” be damned.

Knowing the risks, it seemed foolish to spend money on high-quality furnishings now. It was time to change his algorithm. Dad went shopping at a value-based furniture store and found a couch that looked 90% like his original couch, but at 10% of the price. It might not last as long, but if the buns shortened the lifespan, he wouldn’t mind.

With the new couch in place, Dad was ready for company. Enzo and Merlot circled the new couch in their territory. “What’s this?” asked Merlot. Enzo replied, “Dad got a new couch.” Enzo hopped up on the couch and looked around. “It nice up here.” But instead of taking a bite, he hopped down and ran off with Merlot. Perhaps the couch would last longer than Dad expected.

Enzo checks out the new couch.
