Chapter 98 - The TAB for Parties
Dad opened the New Years Eve party invitation. It was nice to be invited to parties, but how much did he really want to go? Dad measured every opportunity by what he called, “TAB”, Time Away from Buns. Would he rather leave the house for some activity or spend time at home with his bunnies?
Years ago, he went to a holiday party out of obligation. After spending an hour at the party making small talk with people he didn’t know and driving an hour each way, he returned home, wishing he had just spent that time with Abigail instead. After that, he began weighing the opportunity cost of activities.
For The Rabbit Haven holiday party, it was worth the TAB. It was a chance to socialize with fellow volunteers who were usually too busy to chit chat at events. He even met an adorable black Dwarf rabbit named Bramble, who was looking for a furever home.
Dad looked down at Enzo and Merlot, looking so cute together. Thinking out loud, he said, “I’d much rather spend New Years Eve at home with you guys!”
Dad politely declined the invitation. In this case, the TAB wasn’t worth it to him.
Dad would rather spend New Years Eve with the buns.
