CHAPTER 271 – Advanced Treat Begging.
It was morning at the House of Buns. Abigail and Enzo sat by the window, waiting for breakfast to arrive.
“I want some treats. How about you, Abigail?” asked Enzo. Abigail replied, “Sure. But the treat platter is empty and Dad isn’t here. How are we going to get treats?” Enzo, who had been elected Head Treat Beggar, knew just what to do. “Watch, I’ll show you,” he said, as he hopped up onto the fireplace.
Meanwhile, Dad was in the kitchen fixing breakfast for the rabbits when he heard a loud clinking sound coming from the living room. It sounded like glasses banging against each other. “Oh dear,” he thought, “I’d better go see what’s going on.”
Dad dropped what he was doing and ran over to the living room. There sat Enzo, up on the fireplace, tossing metal coasters around. They made a clanging sound as they banged against each other and the fireplace.
“Enzo! What are you doing?” asked Dad. Enzo looked at Abigail and said, “See? I told you I could get Dad in here.” Looking rather innocent, Enzo hopped across the fireplace and over to the bookshelf where he could nibble on Dad’s magazines and books.
Knowing what was about to happen, Dad decided to distract Enzo. “You want some treats?” he asked, as he filled the treat platter. Enzo stopped in his tracks, tilted his cute little head, and looked at Dad and thought, “Why yes. Yes I would!”
He hopped down onto the floor and Dad set the treat platter down in front of him. Abigail hopped over to join him. “And that’s how it’s done,” said Enzo.
Dad was proud of himself for distracting Enzo from being mischievous. Enzo was proud of himself for training Dad.
