Chapter 12 – Territory Signs

Chapter 12 - Territory Signs

Enzo and Merlot watched the Shark circle the room, devouring all the poop pellets they had deposited overnight. It wasn’t like they had markers and paper to make signs that read, “Enzo’s and Merlot’s Territory. Keep Out!” All they had to “write with” was their poop. But it was a daunting task to keep such a large territory marked. Enzo had enlisted Merlot’s help.

Merlot asked, “Enzo, I don’t get it. Dad expects us to use the litter box, but you said we need to mark our territory. By the time we’re done marking all our territory, I hardly have any poop left for the litter box. Why does the Shark take away our signs every day?”

Enzo explained, “Dad don’t like our signs. I guess it a hooman thing. Da Shark cleans dem every day. He says we don’t need to mark our territory. Der are no other rabbits. But you can’t be too careful! It too late if someone comes and you don’t have your signs up. We just have to make more signs.”

Merlot said, “Well, I guess I’d better go eat more hay so I can make more signs!” She scampered over to the hay manger and began nibbling. Enzo thought that was a pretty good idea. He followed right behind her.

Meanwhile, the Shark droned on. It was a never ending battle.

Enzo checks out the Shark who keeps taking away his signs.
