Through Abigail’s Eyes: Abigail’s Big Surprise (191)

CHAPTER 191 – Abigail’s Big Surprise

Abigail sat on the festive red fleece covering the coffee table, delicately munching on her breakfast. It was Christmas morning, and like every other morning, she joined Dad for breakfast.

“That was so sweet of you to give your Small Pet Select castle to Enzo,” said Dad, “You’re such a thoughtful little girl.” Abigail didn’t mind. She had plenty of “natural” hidey spots and places to climb in her territory. Like the coffee table. Or her hay tunnel. She finished her breakfast, hopped off the table, and headed back to “her spot” by the window.

“Oh wait!” exclaimed Dad, “I just remembered, you got a message from Belinda last night.” Abigail stopped in her tracks. “A message from my boss on Christmas Eve?” she wondered, “What could it be?”

Dad read her the message:

Merry Christmas, Abigail. I have a little surprise for you. It's a drawing.

I drew your portrait for your Christmas gift. I hope you like it.

Your dad helped me put this whole thing together. He sent six photos to help get the "angles" right.

All six were excellent. But I chose the one that looked like you were listening to me.

Thanks for being such a good friend to me. Not just at work.

Tell your dad and everyone else I said, "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."

Your friend,

Belinda

Abigail had seen Belinda’s drawings of her roommate and Little Fang and she was impressed. She wished she could draw like that. What an honor to have Belinda draw a portrait of her! “Oooh, let’s see!” she thought.

Dad brought up the picture on the iPad and set it down on the floor. Abigail ran over to look. “Oh wow!” exclaimed Abigail, “Look at this, Dad! There are four of me. And it’s in color! I had no idea she was such an artist!” Abigail peered closely at the screen. Then she turned and looked at Dad. “She really captured my look, didn’t she?” she giggled.

Dad was looking over Abigail’s shoulder and said, “Oh my yes! That’s amazing! It’s very reminiscent of Andy Warhol’s style. He was a famous pop artist in the 1960’s, you know. He created a similar painting of the famous actress Marilyn Monroe. Here, let me show you.” Dad pulled up Andy Warhol’s picture of Marilyn. “See what I mean?”

Abigail looked at the four photos of Marilyn Monroe. She could see the similarity in style. Abigail wondered, “Does this mean that I’m a famous actress?” Dad laughed, “Well, no, but I think Belinda has just made you a pop icon – at least in the rabbit world! This would look pretty good on a T-shirt or a mug!”

Abigail was thrilled. Not only because she had a “Belinda original”, but that she had such a wonderful boss and friend. She couldn’t wait for their weekly staff call so she could thank her. This really made her Christmas merry!

Abigail admires Belinda's drawing of her. Such talent!
