CHAPTER 165 – Bundependence Day
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The dull booming sound was going off in the distance. Abigail’s ears stood up as she stared towards the window. She wasn’t sure what to make of it. She looked up at Dad and wondered, “What’s that noise?”
Dad laid down on the floor next to her and said, “Don’t worry, it’s just fireworks. It won’t hurt you.”
Abigail wasn’t upset. Just curious. “Why do they do that?” she wondered.
Dad explained, “It’s one of those human things. People like to celebrate Independence Day by setting off fireworks.”
Abigail, ever the inquisitive one, wondered, “What’s Independence Day?”
Dad smiled and explained, “Well, it’s when this country became independent of Britain and we had the freedom to decide what we wanted to do and when we wanted to do it.”
Abigail stared out the window into the dark and thought for a moment. Then she said, “You know what, Dad? I’m independent, too. I am free to do what I want, when I want. I guess every day is Independence Day when you’re a free roam bunny! I think we should call it Bundependence Day!”
Dad laughed, “OK, Abigail. Happy Bundependence Day, sweetie!”
