CHAPTER 145 – Have I Told You Lately?
It was Valentine’s Day evening at the House of Buns. Abigail hopped onto the coffee table to see what Dad was up to. Dad smiled and said, “Well hi there, my little Valentine!”
Dad gave her a pet and said softly, “Happy Valentine’s Day! I love you! Have I told you that lately?” Abigail thought, “Only for about the 20th time today. But who’s counting?”
No matter what kind of day it was, no matter what was going on in the world, Dad could always count on Abigail to make things better. He sang the Rod Stewart song to her:
Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there’s no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that’s what you do.
Dad said, “I hope you don’t mind me saying I love you so much. A girlfriend once told me it doesn’t mean anything if you say it so much. But I just adore you, little one.”
Abigail chattered her teeth and thought, “No, Dad. I’m a rabbit. You can say it as much as you want. I don’t mind at all. I love you back!”
Abigail is Dad's little Valentine.
