CHAPTER 114 – The Apple
Dad chuckled to himself as he prepared some apples for the bunnies at the House of Buns. “Nothing but the best for my bunnies!” he thought.
He had taste-tested all the apples at the produce market to find the sweetest, crispest, and juiciest variety—which turned out to be Sugar Bees. Of course, they were also the most expensive apples.
He began by peeling the apples, just in case there was wax on the skin to make them shiny. Then, he sliced them up into small chunks. What was left on the core, he gnawed at for himself.
“The rabbits get the best parts of the apple!” he laughed.
But he knew his little Abigail loved apples, so like with many bun parents, the payoff was to see the joy on her face when he brought her breakfast tray to her. “Abigail, breakfast! Here’s your apple!” he called.
Abigail ran over, sniffed through the tray and went straight for the apple slice. “Ohhh, apple. That’s my favorite! Thanks Dad!” she thought. “You know what they say, ‘An apple a day keeps the vet away!’” she giggled.
That made it all worthwhile. After all, Abigail was “the apple of his eye” and he just wanted her to be happy.
