Belinda Says Hay: “An Inspiring Story”

Belinda the Spokesrabbit blog: "An Inspiring Story"

Hello. It's Belinda.

I want to thank everyone for your kindness during the past week. Losing my friend Jester the Giant Bunny has been a terrible shock.

I know his roommate Lyn appreciates all of your nice messages too.

If you want to look at some photos of Jester or reach out to Lyn, visit the JesterTheBunny Facebook page. Or his Instagram.

I took some time off work which helped. Just "hung out" with my roommate and Little Fang.

I didn't feel like doing much of anything, to tell you the truth. Felt too gloomy. Really needed a bit of good news.

And then I heard a story that really "knocked my socks off."

It's about a rabbit named Goldie.

Goldie lives in Georgia with her family. Mom, Dad and four sisters.

They got into a jam back in December and had to move into a homeless shelter.

Except for Goldie. She was not allowed to come inside with her family.

Now I want to stop here for a moment.

Some of you might not know my background. About how, when I was little, I had to live outdoors with some other rabbits.

That's right. My first roommate put us on the sidewalk and left us there. I'm talking the city streets of Pittsburgh.

We had to sleep under cars. It was so loud with all the traffic and people talking and yelling.

Now back to Goldie's predicament.

Her family wanted to keep her safe and you'll never guess what happened next.

Dad slept outdoors with her. For over a month.

See Goldie in a TV news story here.

My roommate and I watched it three times. Her eyes were shiny.

The good news is the nice people at Georgia House Rabbit Society found out and they offered to let Goldie "crash" at their place for a while.

Then they set up a fundraiser page to help the family get out of the homeless shelter.

The Small Pet Select team helped to spread the word and made a matching donation. We are also giving Goldie a gift card to use on our website.

I hope you take a look. It's a real "feel good" story.

And it came along right when I needed it most.

Sincerely,

Belinda
