Belinda Says Hay: “Two Weeks Until Midwest BunFest”

Hello. It's Belinda.

The countdown is on. It's two weeks until Midwest BunFest in Columbus, Ohio.

Sunday, Oct. 26.

Are you going?

I went a few years ago. It was a lot of fun.

I got to stay at the hotel.

"Hello, room service?

I'd like to order three more pillows."

Just kidding.

One of the best parts of Midwest BunFest is the education sessions.

Here's the "lineup" this year.

Hare-Raising Issues: Understanding and Treating Rabbit Ear Infections

Presented by Nicholas Jew, DVM, MedVet Hilliard

Dr. Jew will cover how to know when there's an ear-related problem and what to expect at the vet.

Dental Issues in House Rabbits - and How They Can Be Treated

Presented by Susan L. Borders, DVM, Animal Hospital of Pataskala

Learn how to recognize if your rabbit has a dental problem, such as fractured teeth, abscesses, and bite abnormalities.

Digestive Issues You Absolutely Should Know About – GI Stasis and Bloat

Presented by McKenzie Livengood, DVM, DABVP (Avian), MedVet Hilliard

If your rabbit stops eating, it is very important to get your pet to a veterinarian immediately. This talk covers GI stasis and bloat—the signs to watch for, treatment options, and ways to prevent these problems.

Fluffy or Fat? Unraveling the Health Hazards of Obesity in Rabbits

Presented by Nicholas Jew, DVM, MedVet Hilliard

This session will describe the most common health risks, consequences, and strategies for treatment and prevention of obesity in bunnies.

Best Friends Forever: Bonding Rabbits

Presented by Karen Winsted and Ryan Terebesi, Rabbit Expert Volunteers, Columbus Humane and OHRR

Learn the do’s and don’ts of rabbit bonding, from arranging and chaperoning their first dates to determining when your rabbits can safely move in together.

All I can say about these educational sessions is "wow."

I wish I could go to all of them.

Well that's all I can fit into this blog.

If you go to Midwest BunFest, be sure to stop by the Small Pet Select table. Pick up some free samples and say hi to the team.

I assume I'll be stuck at home with the petsitter again.
