Hi friends,
If there’s one thing I love almost as much as snacks, it’s spending time with my hooman, Big Momma. Piggies like me may be small, but our hearts are SUPER big. We thrive on gentle voices, safe hands, and cozy bonding moments.
Big Momma is the best bonder I know!
She lets me sit on her lap during veggie time and take little bites from her hand, followed by chin scratches while I chew. And I never get tired of her telling me what a handsome boy I am. (I mean… she’s not wrong!)
Those quiet moments help me feel safe. And when a guinea pig feels safe, trust grows.

How Snacks Help with Bonding
One of my favorite ways to bond is through shared snack time. When Big Momma offers something healthy from her hand, I know a happy nibble is on the way.
Snack time becomes connection time. Even shy piggies start to feel braver when snack time means gentle hands and kind words.
Of course, Big Momma reminds me that not all snacks are equal. She always gives me treats that are good for me, but some are really important to make sure I'm healthy and strong.
And that brings us to something very important.
Big Momma says guinea pigs are special. Not just because we’re adorable, but because our bodies work a little differently.
Why I Need Vitamin C
Big Momma explained to me the importance of vitamin C for guinea pigs. Unlike most animals, we cavies cannot produce our own vitamin C. We have to get it from our diet every single day.
Vitamin C helps keep our bones, joints, and even our blood healthy. Without enough of it, piggies can become weak, tired, sore, or sick. We can even develop something called scurvy, which is definitely not cute.
That’s why Big Momma pays close attention to my nutrition. I munch on fresh veggies like broccoli, and sometimes I get a little bite of fruit like kiwi or strawberry. (Remember, no citrus fruits for piggies!) And of course, my guinea pig food is fortified with vitamin C, too.
Another one of my favorites is Select Care Vitamin C Support Biscuits. They're made with vitamin C rich parsley, dandelion, spirulina, nettle, plus my beloved Timothy hay. Big Momma calls it a supplement.
I call it vitamin C-licious!
She loves that it helps support my daily vitamin C needs. I love that it tastes good and comes with bonus cuddle time. And when something healthy feels like a special moment we share together, bonding gets even better.
At the end of the day, guinea pig bonding is about trust, routine, and love.
It’s about the soft voice, the steady hands, and the little moments that happen every day. Whether we’re sharing a healthy bite or just sitting quietly together, those moments tell me I’m safe.
And remember, strong bodies and safe hearts make the happiest piggies.
Love,
Gizmo
